IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antavius Ledell
Potts
April 26, 1990 – February 4, 2025
HAMPTON, GA
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Affectionately known as "Big Dawg," Antavius Ledell Potts was born on April 26, 1990, to Anthony B. Potts and Arvis Renee Walker. He entered the world at 4:24 p.m., weighing just over two pounds. A true fighter from the start, he spent the first seven months of his life at Grady Memorial Hospital, defying the odds with strength and determination.
After his stay at Grady, his fight didn't end—Antavius spent months relying on oxygen, to the point where he gained the ability to self-treat. From the very start, he embodied resilience and strength, setting the tone for the determined spirit he carried throughout his life.
At a young age, Antavius was baptized at Mount Patmos Baptist Church but later, in his teenage years, joined The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church.
He attended Bob Mathis Elementary School, Chapel Hill Middle School, and Southwest DeKalb High School, where he proudly became a member of the Southwest DeKalb Panther Varsity Wrestling Team. In 2009, he earned his diploma from Fleming Day School. Driven to create a prosperous future, Antavius continued his education at Everest Institute in Decatur, GA, in 2011, where he obtained a Heating and Air Conditioning certification.
His hard work and tenacity led him through various positions in the industry before he took a leap of faith and established Potts Maintenance and Repair in 2020. His business exemplified his dedication to excellence and self-sufficiency.
In 2013, Antavius met the love of his life, Gabrielle. They shared a deep bond, enjoying movies together, spending quality time, and always dressing sharply in coordination, something that became their signature look.
On November 17, 2019, they solidified their love in a beautiful wedding, a testament to their love and commitment to one another. From this love, Antavius embraced the role of a devoted father figure to Nevah Stern, his beloved Daughter in Love. He took this role seriously, showering her with love, guidance, and unwavering support.
Antavius had an undeniable passion for success and entrepreneurship. He loved good food (especially his Debbie Snacks) quality time with family, friends, and of course, his MONEY! Though Antavius loved to make money, he was never big on spending it! (We know our Tay, lol!)
In his free time, he enjoyed exploring the aisles of Home Depot or watching HVAC YouTube videos to perfect his craft.
The name "Big Dawg" was embraced from his favorite rapper, Lil Boosie. If you wanted to see him turn up, all you had to do was play Lil Boosie, and he would give you a show!
Although his time on earth was far too short, Antavius lived a life of purpose. His hustle, reserved yet humble nature, ambition, and enduring love for his family and friends will always be treasured.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Fannie B. Wooden, his aunts, Dorothy Duggans and Mary Spivey, and brothers, D'Artagnan Potts and Roscoe Tyrone Potts.
On February 4, 2025, he returned to his heavenly home to be with the Father, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and dedication.
Antavius leaves behind his loving wife; Gabrielle J. Potts, and his cherished Daughter in Love, Nevah Stern; his parents, Arvis Renée Jones-Walker (Cedric) and Anthony B. Potts, Sr.; his mother-in-love , Sophia Stern (Vince); his grandparents, Linda Korbin (Nate); and his siblings, Maurice Moore, Lakaii Richardson (Michael), Jamika Ferrell, Linda Bell (Andrae), Ricardo Gray, Sparkle Hosley (Tremaine), Anthony Bernard Potts Jr., Omi Potts, Genuine Potts, and Amya Marrow.

His memory will also be carried on by his aunts, Edwina Telfair and Ta'Mika Bronzer Banks, as well as his God mother, Evelyn Devero.
