Obituary

PHILADELHIA, PA - On August 2,1954 William "Bill"  Bellinger Lee was born to the union of  Mr. and Mrs. Joan and William Lee. He was the last of three siblings. He was a good son, father and loving brother.

In 2020, he was departed in death by his brother, Richard Bellinger affectionately known as Ricky.

William attended the Philadelphia Public School System and was a graduate of John Bartrum High School Class of 1970.

He enlisted in into the United States Marine Corps (USMC) where he served for two years. After serving, he returned to Philadelphia, where he started his many employments. He began working for a number of large chain hotels including Holiday Inn, Bellevue Stratford Hotel and other jobs such as Coca-Cola Company and Balford Farms.

After the passing of his stepfather, Preston Greene, he quickly stepped in and took over the family deli which he ran for a number of years.

Bill was an entrepreneur owning his own business, where he operated an ice cream truck employing many of the brothers from the Kingdom Hall. Bill was well known and loved in the catering business, working for many big-name companies such as, Cricket Company and the Art Museum. He also worked for many private catering companies. Bill also delivered the newspapers and flowers. He was loved and respected by all of his employers and employees. Bill helped everyone, whether it was to find a job or to find a car, he was there for you always finding a way to be helpful every step of the way.

He was a diligent worker always exceeding in learning different types of employment. He became an asset to all the companies that employed him. Bill enjoyed listening to jazz and R&B even though he would brag about his dancing he had two left feet. His passion was playing pool especially with his friends and grandchildren. He was also an excellent cook always trying new recipes! Every weekend morning, his family would wake up to a delicious breakfast and a gourmet dinner in the evening. Those who really knew him also knew he loved pulling pranks, there was always laughter when he was around.

One of the many things Bill enjoyed was spending time with his aunt, Julia and her children regularly. Both families had many dinners together. Bill never forgot about his uncle Floyd who he enjoyed spending time with him and helping him along.

Bill loved all of his family members whether they lived in Philadelphia, PA  or Statesboro, GA

Bill became affiliated with Jehovah's Witnesses in the early seventies and got baptize.  He became a pioneer for more than 12 years consecutively. He became an elder, first serving in the Olney Congregation and then in the West Belfield Congregation. He was always loving and merciful in dealing with judicial matters and showed kindness to all his brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall. One of the many things Bill enjoyed was spending time with his family.

Bill was married to Suzanne Lee in 1981 for 20 years and to this union two beautiful daughters were born. In 2013 he married Nora Mengullo.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, William passed into eternal rest at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Bill leaves to cherish his memories; his loving  wife, Nora Mengullo Lee; his loving mother, Joanne Greene; one sister, Patricia Richardson; his children, Leonard Wilson, Samia Lewis, Lashanna Lee Scott, Xiarra Lee, Shamora and Sharrieff Dixon; his grandchildren, Denzel ,Leonard Jr., Akua,Sa Haru Wilson, Stephen Lewis, Sean, Camryn, Saige Scott , Antwyne Abrams, Zahir Wyatte, Xianni, Milan, Xianna, Trinity and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. William "Bill: Lee will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM in Drexel Hill, PA. Burial will follow at a later date in Statesboro, GA
